How to use Google Ads to bring in Leads for your Coaching Programs

If you are a coach or consultant and you have been using Facebook ads to bring in leads for your programs and services then maybe it’s time to consider using Google Ads as well. (HINT: We do NOT mean YouTube campaigns, although that can play a part).
What are your Prospects Searching For Right Now?
Google ads allow you to target prospects that are searching right now for the solution to their problems.
So, identify the problem they need help with and create lists of keywords they are using to navigate Google and you’ll be able to get targeted ads in front of them right now.
By getting in front of them when they’re searching for solutions to their problems, you’ll be able to bring in hot leads that are ready for a solution.
NOTE: Here’s what NOT to do in Google.
Never focus all your efforts solely on keywords that reflect your business type – e.g. business coach, life coach etc. These terms are far too generic and can result in low-quality leads.
Piggyback On Competitor’s Traffic
As you may know, you can target fans of certain pages on Facebook with your ads. You can use a similar approach on Google.
If you bid upon your competitors’ names with carefully worded ads, you’ll be able to ethically get their traffic to visit your site, sign up your opt-ins and join your retargeting/remarketing audiences. This will work whether you’re brand new or better established.
Let’s take a look at an example. If I were offering a Productivity coaching program, I might target people searching for competitors’ websites such as Michael Hyatt. I would bid on any keywords related to his name with an offer of a useful download. The next steps would then be to convert the lead using email marketing plus retargeting to help the prospect view you as a thought leader.
Transfer What’s Working to YouTube
The method above works not only for people searching Google. You can also target people when they’re searching YouTube and instead place a video in front of these people with your possible solution.
Brand Campaigns
Let’s not forget that one of the key campaigns we should be running on Google Ads is our own brand campaign. How often have you realised that your latest webinar, blog or offer is not immediately visible if people are searching for you on Google?
Setting up a brand campaign with a variety of different links within the different ad, called sitelinks, will allow you to show your latest offerings to your hottest prospects.
Retargeting Campaigns
Finally, retargeting campaigns are essential. Many of us run these successfully on Facebook, yet aren’t doing the same on Google.
Make sure you’re bringing in past visitors to key points of your funnel that will help them make a decision to buy from you. This might include items such as case studies, blog posts, or links that will book them in for a strategy session.
